A review that I didn't really want to post right now.

I am writing this review, purely and simply because I keep getting emails from Tomoson saying that my account is in jeopardy if I don't complete it.  I had been in contact with the company, letting them know that I really wanted at least an extension on the review, or maybe to just purchase the product instead of writing a review on it.

The reason why, is because it's for a t-shirt that I got a while ago for my husband from a website selling gun t-shirts.  My husband enjoys shooting and, being in the military, and then working in law enforcement, has been shooting at ranges and carrying a weapon for work the entirety of our marriage.  He enjoys shooting and is good at it.

However, after the awful and tragic shooting in Colorado happened, in an effort to be sensitive to victims of this shooting, (the t-shirt that we got says "bullets make me happy" and I can see how that might be offensive and perhaps saddening to some in light of this event.) I contacted the company because my review was coming due, and I just really no longer felt comfortable writing it at this time.  The shirt is comfortable and well made, so the shirt itself, is good. (though my husband has taken a break from wearing it for a while, also in an effort to be sensitive)

I wrote to the company in an effort to help them see my point of view, and perhaps let them see that the timing for this review just isn't a good decision on either of our parts.  I explained that I genuinely just wanted to be understanding of those who may be reading this, and their sensitivities to what it represents during this time.

Here's what I initially wrote to the T-Shirt company:

"I know that my review is coming due, and I know that it needs to be done, however, I feel that in light of the recent shooting in Colorado, I'd like to request an extension on this."

The response from the T-shirt company:

"I advise just doing it and not mentioning Aurora at all. You cant walk on eggshells all of the time when you're dealing with a mass audience. Just put the product out there and review it. You aren't promoting mass killings...just a shirt with a gun on it."

I responded telling him that I truly didn't feel comfortable doing this right now, but if given a 30-60 day extension, and letting some time pass, the timing would be better.  I also let him know at this time, that if he didn't feel comfortable with the extension, that I would be more than happy to just pay the full purchase price for the shirt.

T-shirt company's response:
"Dude, do what you need to do! Do the 30 day wait, though, okay?"

Now, 30 days have not passed, yet, I am needing to write a review, as I am receiving emails from Tomoson (which is a company that brings companies and blogging reviewers together) saying that my account is going to be in jeopardy if I wait.

That being said.  The shirt was nice, comfortable and well made.  The company has been miserable to work with, insensitive and unprofessional.

  1. I appreciate your honesty. This does not sound like a company I would like to order from. I would like to know the name of the company, though.

    1. I put a link to the company (not because I wanted to promote them, but merely because the review requires it), but I don't want to broadcast the name of the company. If you message me I will let you know.

  2. That's ridiculous. Now I know why I've heard so many bad things about Tomoson. Glad I never bothered to sign up with them. Thanks for writing this post. You did the right thing and it's ridiculous that they can't be more understanding. And who addresses a business partner as 'dude'? Keep it classy, Tomoson.

    1. I edited the post, but the messages that I posted were from the T-Shirt company itself. Then, since apparently no extension was actually granted in their system, I started getting messages saying that if I didn't get my review done today, that I would have negative implications to my Tomoson account which would affect future endeavors with them and other companies, which is why I really had no choice but to write the above review.

  3. Dude! That was not a professional response by the t-shirt company! I hope they do not respond that way to customers who order through their site.

    1. I hope not also. I'm hoping that their PR and customer service are two different people, for the sake of the customers!

  6. Thanks for the honest review, Dude! Mr. T-shirt company, there's a difference between walking on eggshells & being sensitive to a terrible thing that happened, DUDE! Like someone said above, I hope you don't treat your customers like that.

    Dude.

  8. Wow - I wouldn't have wanted to post a review on that right now either. They should have been willing to let you push it back or ask you to review the quality of it using a stock photo of another message....

  9. Wow, it is completely insensitive and really...."Dude"? Is that what kind of PR we have now?

  10. I think you handled the situation at hand very well. I have used tomoson and have never had a problem. Sounds like the blame falls with the tshirt company. I agree with you 100% that the timing is not right on this. Sounds like a shirt my hubby would like though (he is also in Law Enforcement now and was a weapons instructor for the state corrections department)

  11. Tomoson has a support page (https://getsatisfaction.com/tomoson) and have been really helpful to me in the past. Tomoson doesn't know if the promotor gave you an extension or not - the emails reminding you to post are automatically generated so if you explain the situation to tomoson they can reset their end to stop emailing you.

I had a problem where I never received the product to review and tomoson kept emailing me saying it was due, so I explained what was going on with tomoson and they could see all the emails in their system between me and the sponsor so they manually removed me from the reviewers list.

  12. What you wrote only made sense and anyone in their right mind would know of the situation and understand. Sometimes you just have to do what is morally right. Sorry they were so rude to you DUDE! :-)
