Apple Picking!!

As some of you know, my computer has been not working in the way that it should be, so I have been spending a lot less time blogging than I was previously. I now have a new computer, courtesy of my loving husband who is definitely supportive of the fact tthat I love blogging.

Anyway, while I was not blogging, I did a great many wonderful things with my family, and one of those things, was spending the day at an orchard picking apples.  My husband and I love going to local farms for things like apples, pumpkins and Christmas trees.  It really turns getting these things into a full day of family fun.  We finally found a place called Hartland Farm and Orchard where we will be able to do all of these things this year!  We had so much fun picking apples.  We spent $24 on a full bushel of apples.  That's two large bags full which would equal probably five or six full shopping bags.  We have Granny Smith and Fuji apples, fresh from the trees.  I have baked two pies, an apple crisp and two apple coffee cakes (which I will share the recipe for another time!)  and we still have SO many apples left.  I am going to start sharing them with the neighbors pretty soon.

Now, for what we got, $24 was not a lot to spend, however, even if we weren't getting so many apples for our money, we would still go back for the experience.

If you have the opportunity, taking your family to an orchard like Hartland, is so much fun, and a great (and really not expensive when you think about it) way to show your kids where their fruit comes from.
